Peckham Methodist Church occupied a prominent site on Queen's Road at the junction with Woods Road.

The church was built in 1865 and was demolished in 1972.

The tram line along Peckham Road and Queen's Road was constructed in 1870, when the cars were pulled by horses.

Horse trams could beat trains on cost as well as speed and comfort, and were a major stimulus to the development of the area.

These tram lines were electrified in 1904.

Note the piano shop (detail left), a good indicator of the area's relatively prosperous status.
