Peckham and East Dulwich were new developments which generated a huge increase in population to outer South London.

As well as prompting obvious new services, such as shops and schools, the new population also needed a new water supply.

Honor Oak Reservoir was completed by 1909 and then covered.

This view, looking north, shows Nunhead Cemetery on the hill to the left. Ivydale School is prominent on the horizon to the right.
