Trafalgar Street, Walworth, 1963
Trafalgar Street was developed by the early years of the 19th century - the street name is an obvious clue to its date.
In the early 19th century Walworth Road was described as being lined with elegant villas, and the same compliment would have applied to the Old and New Kent Roads.
The development between these streets, however, was less grand. By 1850 this area was overwhelmingly urban. St Peter's Church, just south of Trafalgar Road, opened in 1825.
These houses were demolished in the early 1960s.
