Kennington Park Road, Walworth, 1978
Kennington Park Road, along with the Old Kent Road, is one of the ancient roads leading south from London Bridge to the Sussex and Kent coasts.
Traffic using this road increased greatly in the late 18th century after the building of new bridges over the Thames and new roads to serve them.
At that time the most prestigious developments were on the main roads and these houses date from this time.
Kennington Park Road forms the boundary between the parishes of Newington to the east and Lambeth to the west, and the modern boroughs of Southwark and Lewisham.
