Glebe House, Grove Lane, Camberwell, c. 1890
The house was built c.1850 for Alexander Kleinworth, merchant banker. He gave it to his daughter, Sophia, and her husband, Charles Andreae, c.1870. The Kleinworts were the most eminent of numerous German families in the area.
Glebe House stood roughly where Albrighton Road joins Grove Lane / Dog Kennel Hill. It was demolished between 1914 and 1932. The site is now occupied by the East Dulwich Estate.
The second view shows one of the out-houses near the pasture at the bottom of the garden.
