Beresford Square, Woolwich, c. 1905
A busy day in Woolwich Market.
The market clientele seems to be exclusively men, who are probably workers from the Royal Arsenal on their way home.
The Ordnance Arms is on the left hand side.
The market, founded by royal charter in 1619, relocated to the square in 1888 having migrated from its original site in Market Hill (part of the High Street).
