An engraving which appeared in the Gentleman's Magazine, January 1840.

The engraving is a copy of a contemporary drawing of the Tudor palace at Greenwich - the birthplace of both Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.

Henry VII pulled down the former palace of Bella Court (Placentia) and built Greenwich Palace on the site.

However, this famous riverside palace was demolished in the 17th century and the Royal Hospital for Seamen (now the Old Royal Naval College) was built on the site.

Published in the Gentleman's Magazine, 1840.
