Coaching Inns were a distinctive feature of Borough from earliest times to the end of the 19th century.
The arrival of the railways in the 1830s removed much of their purpose, but some diversified and became ticket agents and goods depots.
This building was previously the Dun Horse Inn, which ceased trading in the 1820s.
