It is often supposed that the majority of post-war development in Southwark took place on sites that had been destroyed by wartime enemy action. In fact most were cleared by planners and not bombers.

This site is an exception in two ways. Firstly, it was cleared after being bombed in World War II, and second, it was never redeveloped.
