Trams at New Cross Gate, New Cross, c. 1910

trams-00100-350

The site of the former New Cross Tollgate was a busy junction in 1910, as it is today, and passengers had to walk out into the road to board the trams.

The establishment of the tram service encouraged building on the remaining open spaces in New Cross.

The White Hart, behind the centre tram, had been rebuilt in 1898.
