Fludyer Street, Lee, Lewisham, 1953

fludyer-street-01556-350

Not all of Lee's developments were aimed at the middle class commuters.

Many of the streets north of the east end of Lee High Road comprised small terraced houses which were developed in the 1830s and 1840s. Fludyer street, previously Dacre Street, was typical.

The bunting was for the coronation of 1953. It was the last celebration for Fluyder Street, which was soon to be demolished with the rest of Lee New Town.
