Slagrave Farm, Lewisham, late 1850s

slagrave-farm-01001-350

Slagrave Farm was purchased in 1894 by the Bermondsey Poor Law Union, who built a workhouse for the elderly poor on the site.

Part of this remains as Ladywell Lodge, the rest having been replaced by Dressington Avenue.

The tower in the background of the painting is that of St. Mary's Church.
