These houses were built late in the 18th century and early in the 19th century on the manorial waste land bordering Ladywell Road.

They were demolished in the 1890s to make way for Gillian Street and The Pavement.

In the distance can be seen the trees of Lewisham (now Ladywell) Cemetery.
