Jape's Cottage, Hither Green Lane, Hither Green, c. 1870

japes-cottage-00983-350

This curious building was first called Bullseye Cottage because of the distinctive circular windows. It was the gardener's cottage to the Laurels, the large house 200 yards to the south.

The second name, Jape's Cottage, was supplied by William Japes, the gardener from c.1850.

It was demolished in the early 1870s and No 126 Hither Green Lane now stands on the site.
