Rushey Green is the southern continuation of Lewisham High Street.

Many of the houses on the east side of Rushey Green were built by the mid 19th century, but the expansion of Catford towards the end of the century saw redevelopment on this prime site.

Prominent among them was the Black Horse public house, which was rebuilt in 1897.

The tram line was electrified in 1906. This tram is travelling from Lewisham to Victoria, a route that exists to this day as bus route 185.

Note the relatively large number of bicycles.
