Holy Trinity Church, Blackheath Hill, Blackheath, 1925

holy-trinity-church-01785-350

[Holy Trinity was in the Borough of Greenwich]

Many of the houses in the small streets at the bottom of Blackheath Hill were built in the early years of the 19th century.

Holy Trinity was built in 1837 and continued to function as a church until 1950, although the building was badly damaged during World War II.

The parish served a generally poor population despite being sandwiched between the wealthier residents of the Church of the Ascension, Dartmouth Hill and St Paul's, Devonshire Road.
