Stockwell Park Road, Stockwell, c. 1920

stockwell-park-road-00516-350

This view looks at houses in this stretch of Stockwell Park Road which still survive, as does St Michaels Church.

The church, dating from 1841, survived the extensive damage done to the area by a flying bomb in World War II. The bomb damage resulted in the area opposite the church being cleared for Slade Park, and more recently a children's adventure playground.

The road beyond the junction with Robsart Road now has large new housing estates on either side.
