Engraving entitled 'Prospectus Septentrionalis'.

This view of Greenwich from the south, showing the newly-established Royal Observatory (opened 1676) and the Queen's House was one of a set, presumably commemorating the Observatory.

John Flamsteed, the Astronomer Royal, lived in Flamsteed House in the centre of the image.

A large telescope is shown on a gantry in the grounds of the observatory.

Engraving by Francis Place, 1676
