Blackfen Road at the junction with Days Lane.

The 1930s saw the main area of growth in Blackfen with much new housing being built.

For the newcomers there was often a pleasant surprise as both the United Dairies (shown in the photograph) and the Express Dairy (at the Oval) sent 'Welcome' packages to prospective customers of a bottle of milk, 1/4lb of butter and a pot of cream.
