In 1951 Gravel Hill was no more than a narrow road linking Bexley to Bexleyheath.

Today the old road has been altered and is now a major link road from the A2 to Bexleyheath.

Broomfield Road in 1897 was still just a small road with one or two large houses.

It had not changed greatly in the early 1930s but with the onset of suburbia the area grew enormously in a very short space of time
