Although Broadway is Bexleyheath's shopping hub, much of which is pedestrianised, to the west towards Crook Log, it becomes more residential, even to this day.

Broadway is part of an ancient Roman road from London to Dover and, indeed, reverts to its old name, Watling Street at its eastern end.
