The first photograph (and detail below) shows the section of the Broadway from Pincott Road to Gravel Hill. On the left-hand side of the photograph is the old provision store of Penney, Son and Parker, and on the other side of the junction is the Home and Colonial Store. Both famous in their day but now, sadly, no longer in existence.

Instead of trams the travel age has advanced to trolleybuses and their wires can be seen in both photographs.
