Avenue Road, Bexleyheath, 1932
These houses are on Avenue Road, Bexleyheath, at the corner with Glynde Road. They are untypical of Bexleyheath in that they are of the chalet style, but typical of development in general at that time.
The vigourous promotion is evident from the signs in the background advertising both the deposit and the weekly repayments, as well as the speed of erection - a completed house next to one in progress, which in turn is next to an empty plot.
The sunburst gate is a contemporary feature.
The trees were felled in 1936, sadly bringing the streetscape into line with many others locally.
