'Brixton Hundred', extract from Surrey County and Borough Towns map, covering the present day London Boroughs of Wandsworth, Lambeth and Southwark.

A 'hundred' was an ancient administrative area. Brixton, then 'Brixistane' was the north-easternmost of the 14 hundreds in the County of Surrey during the early 11th century. The Hundred Court met at the top of Brixton Hill at the point where the Parishes of Lambeth, Clapham and Streatham met.

The Hundred Courts were replaced in the reign of Edward III by Quarter Sessions and, eventually, County Courts.
