Holy Trinity School, Brixton Hill, c. 1944

holy-trinity-school-00171-350

A Flying bomb incident, showing damage to the Holy Trinity School.

The exact date is unknown but, like many V1 attacks , it was probably early summer 1944.

Although V1 flying bombs were intended for Central London, a British government disinformation campaign led to most of them falling in South London, well short of their targets.

A total of 95 V1s fell in Lambeth killing 250 people and severely injuring a further 709.

This site was cleared and a modern school was built there during the 1950s.
