burrage-road-01097-350

189 Burrage Road, part of the Burrage Estate, was the home of William Thomas Vincent, editor of the Kentish Independant.

Vincent wrote the standard history of Woolwich: 'Records of the Woolwich District' in 1890. He was also a founder of the Woolwich and District Antiquarian Society.

He lived at the top end of Burrage Road where the larger and more expensive houses stood. At Christmas time he staged pantomimes in his house, written by him, for local children.
