Nelson Road was built in 1829 as part of the new town centre designed for Greenwich Hospital Estates by Joseph Kay.

In the middle of the terrace on the right hand side is an entrance to Greenwich Market.

St. Alfege's Church, designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, is at the end of the road in Church Street.
