High Street, West Wickham, c. 1950

This parade was built on the northern side of the High Street about 1935, replacing the grand, but short lived Wickham Hall, home of Gustav Mellin, who made his fortune from baby food.

E.S.Richer & Co (detail below) were house furnishers arriving just before the war and surviving into the seventies.

Off to the right, next to Richers, is Braemar Gardens where the house used in the Channel Four TV series, 'The 1940s House', is situated.
