Barnhill Avenue, Hayesford Park, Hayes, 1968
Built on the site of Hayes Food Farm, part of the estates of the Norman family of Bromley Common, Hayesford Park was one of the largest greenfield developments in the district.
Built in two phases by the garden city inspired Building Design Partner-ship, the northern part was earlier (mainly 1960 to 1963) and more spaciously laid out.
Barnhill Road forms part of the later phase in the mid 1960s.
These terraced houses were just one of a variety of designs ranging from detached bungalows to high rise flats.
The estate represents a good example of post war town planning at its zenith and was the subject of a failed attempt to become a conservation area in 1993.
