Cotmandene Crescent, Cray Valley, 1965

Cotmandene Crescent was planned as the main Shopping Centre for the St. Paul's Cray Estate.

Completed by the end of the 1950s, with flats above, the wide road with a central reservation aids parking and has helped the shops to survive more successfully than in other local parades.

Originally the home to national chains such as Woolworth's and with banks too, in recent years independent shops have dominated.

Although there are now a number of vacant units the centre still remains comparatively busy.
