Memorial Library, Main Road, Biggin Hill, Bromley, 1985
Biggin Hill's rapid growth in the 1950s meant that public bodies had to play catch-up to provide services appropriate in scale and quality to the district's new population.
Amongst the new services was the Memorial Library, which opened in 1981. It is was a memorial to people from Biggin Hill who lost their lives in World War II. It has recently (2010) been rebuilt as a combined library and swimming pool, remaining a lasting memorial to the town's wartime sacrifices.
