Looking up Foots Cray High Street towards Sidcup Hill from near the Seven Stars pub.
This is an attractive weather-boarded building which protrudes alarmingly onto the road. The timber framed section of the building (at right angles to the road) dates from the 16th century.
There is some uncertainty as to the origin of its name.
The seven stars on the pub's sign are currently depicted surrounding the Virgin Mary's head, and this religious reference is supported by the discovery of a carving of the Virgin's head with stars found in the pub's well. It is now set into the bar wall.
The Esso garage opposite advertises 4-star petrol for £1.17 per gallon (currently £1.83 per litre in 2004).
