The tramway between Erith and Abbey Wood opened on 26th August 1905.

As long before as 1902 Erith Council agreed upon the laying out of several lines, the one here shown beginning at High Street, Erith, travelling along West Street and Lower Road to Abbey Wood (Station Road) via Belvedere.
