Park Grove and Watling Street, Barnehurst, 1934
The Martens Grove Estate was built by local builder, Ayling.
Park Grove was the first road to be laid out, here shown in a most preliminary state.
It opens onto Watling Street where the Bexley Council tram service provided access to Crayford and Dartford.
The building of the estate necessitated the destruction of areas of ancient woodlands, part of the ground of Martens Grove, a large mansion of the mid-19th century.
