Bus Garage, Erith Road, Barnehurst, 1935
Trams provided the crucial transport element in the development of Bexleyheath, providing and efficient link with places of employment in Woolwich and Erith.
Bexley's tram lines date from 1905 but trams were replaced by trolley buses (and a new depot on Erith Road, seen here during construction) in 1935.
This is an extremely unusual trolley bus. It has only two axles, whilst all examples of London's trolley buses available to the editor have a twin rear axle in order to cope with a heavy, 70 passenger load.
